Hello & Thank you for contacting us. The following answers regarding your current queries are just general descriptions due to the limited information provided by you. Click on this link (DoctorOnCall) for a private consultation with our doctors.
Avoid the nuisance stomach problems with the right care for your digestive system.
First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. From your complaints, we believe that your condition may have multifactorial causes such as:
- Inadequate fiber in daily food intake
- Ignoring urge to pass stool
- Stress
- Overuse of coffee, tea or alchohol
- Reduced levels of exercise
- Hypothyroid, pregnancy, diabetes
However consuming too much laxative (ubat lawas) may have its adverse effects, such as:
- Bloating.
- Cramping.
- Nausea.
- Gas.
- Increased thirst.
- Loose or watery stools.
- Diarrhea or more frequent bowel movements.
Or even severe side effects such as:
- rectal bleeding.
- bloody stools.
- severe cramps or pain.
- weakness or unusual tiredness.
- dizziness.
- confusion.
- skin rash or itching.
- swallowing difficulty (feeling of lump in throat)
Instead of focusing on laxative usage, you might find a better solution by paying a visit to the nearest doctor. But for the time being, here are few tips that can be a general and temporary counter-measure:
- Change of diet such as:
- Minimize dairy product consumption (due to lactose intolerance for some individual)
- Drink more coffee (not advisable if it worsens the condition)
- Eat more probiotics food (i.e. yoghurt, cultured milk, soybeans, etc.)
- Try prunes for a change
- More fibre consumption
- Exercise more often
Talk to a gastroenterologist to address your stomach problems and get their expert opinion.
