Blood Donation / Collection

Hi Doctor,
I would like to confirm with you. I have tested positive for syphilis last year 2020. My current titre is 1:16 (VDRL), and it has never changed in 6 months from my previous result as it is same as 1:16(VDRL) ( Both result was after treatment ). Since, the doctor told me that the titre won’t increase anymore unless if I had sex afterwards. The antibodies for produced to fight syphilis bacteria will be in my blood foreover. Does removing 350ml of blood every 3 months helps in removing antibodi counts as well since the antibodies won’t produced again? In that means, any suggestion keep my blood clean and remove those antibodies to make my result negative to the tests?
Thank you for the time & answers.

Hello!
Thank you for contacting us regarding your query.

From your explanation, we understand that you would like to know if antibodies for syphilis will decrease if you remove your blood every 3 months. For your information, antibodies are usually produced by your body’s immune system in response to an infection. These antibodies are used to fight infection, in your case it is sphilis. The antibody will remain in your blood forever as a copy of the antibody is kept in case you get re-infected with syphilis. So removing your blood may reduce the level of antibodies but it will not completely clear your body of antibodies.

We hope that this answer has been helpful. If you require further clarification, please speak to a doctor.
