Bartholin Cyst or not

I have been having pain for almost two weeks near my vaginal opening. There was a lump about 1cm. sometimes it becomes small then it becomes big again. Then I only did sitz bath 2times. My second sitz bath, i gently massages the lump and suddenly i feel the lump was not there. I look into the basin and i saw yellow discharge. Should i be worried? did i forcefully pops the cyst? i did not feel any pain after that tho or during massaging the lump. What should i do next? thanks!

Hello and good afternoon.
Thank you for your question.

Based on your question, I understand that you are worried about your problem. I will try to help you.

For your information, Bartholin cysts are collections of fluid due to a blockage of the Bartholin gland near the labia of your vagina. From your description, this may have been the rupture of the cyst. IF this was a Bartholin’s cyst, this is normal especially after a sitz bath.

I would recommend keeping the area clean and dry. Please refrain from squeezing or trying to drain the cyst yourself as this may introduce an infection.

If any of these symptoms occur, please seek medical attention:

  • Discomfort and pain during sex, walking, sitting, or when inserting a tampon or wiping after using the restroom.
  • Swelling around the area
  • Fever or chills
  • Redness
  • Increasing size

Having said that, in order for us to provide you with an accurate diagnosis and choice of management, we would need additional details to explore further into your current complaints.

Therefore, I strongly encourage you to consult your nearest doctor for proper examination. You can also contact our doctor online for further information and treatment.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you.
