It is a common condition among women that happened before menses, typically starts around 5-11 days before menstruation. These symptoms will resolve once the menstruation started.

Your symptoms are related to the increase of estrogen and progesterone hormones in your body. In most cases, the symptoms are mild and moderate. In some rare severe cases, it can cause mental disorder. Symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome includes abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, mood swing, acne, diarrhoea, constipation, irritable and sensitive to light and sound.

Some medical conditions can have similar symptoms as pre-menstrual syndrome, such as anemia, thyroid diseases, endometriosis, connective tissue disease, irritable bowel syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome.
