Regarding fertility and ovulation

Hi. I am a 28 years old woman and have been trying to conceive for 5 months now. However, last month the Ovulation Strip Test showed that I was not ovulating unlike the last 4 months. Prior to that, I had a really painful period on my second day which I never experienced before. Is this normal or should I get mysel check?
