Is covid19 vaccine safe for pregnant mom with hsv1
Hi doc. Is it safe for pregnant mom (30weeks pregnant) with herpes simplex virus type 1 to take covid 19 vaccine? I search on the internet for any research journal but none found. I just worried if i take the covid 19 vaccine it will trigger an herpes outbreak and somehow the herpes virus can cross the placenta and infect the fetus. Please explain more on this. Thank you.

Hello there!
Thank you for reaching out to us.
We understand the issue you’re facing regarding the Covid-19 vaccine. We will try our best to give you an explanation.
According to the recent clinical guidelines by MOH Malaysia, Covid-19 vaccine can be safely administered to pregnant women between 14-33 weeks of pregnancy. Generally speaking, this vaccine is indicated for everyone who is healthy with no history of severe allergic reactions to medications. However, if you have an active herpes virus infection, it is advisable to postpone your vaccination to a later date as the vaccine efficacy may be reduced. Otherwise, it is okay to receive the vaccination. Please refer to a physician or contact JKJAV at 1800-888-828 for further information.
You may contact our online doctors for further assistance regarding this matter. We hope our answer has been satisfactory. Thank you.
