  • Hello there, miss. Thank you for asking this question on behalf of your boyfriend. Rashes on penis and scrotum can be caused by a lot of conditions. It can be scabies, fungal infection, genital herpes, gonorrhoea, genital warts, chlamydia or even trichomoniasis. Scabies is a microbial infection caused by mites bite.

  • The classical symptom of this is extreme itchiness at night. It is passed on by direct contact with an infected person Genital herpes is a viral infection that causes extreme itchiness of the scrotum, feeling exhausted, blisters and painful urination. Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that may also infect the genital area and spreads by sexual intercourse. Fungal infection is a common genital infection as unprotected sex or poor hygiene encourages the growth of fungus.

  • The common one known in candidiasis infection. This fungi normally lives in our intestine and skin. When there is an overgrowth of it, it weakens the body’s immune system causing an infection. Another fungus called dermatophyte may also result in jock itch. If he has pain during urination, red skin around penis and scrotum and burning sensation, he may be having this.

  • To treat this, I recommend to get an over the counter (OTC) cream. The pharmacist will guide you in buying it. If the itch does not go away within two weeks, I strongly suggest that you consult a doctor. It may be due to treating the wrong infection. Your doctor may take a swab around the affected area and culture it in the lab to identify the organism involved.

  • Meanwhile, your boyfriend should not share any clothing with anyone and always make sure to always keep the area clean and stay dry. I hope this helps both of you to understand.

Do you know that your immune system plays role in the effectiveness of vaccines?
