  • Hi , thank you for your question. So your partner has chlamydia infections, it is likely to have the infections if you had a recent sexual intercourse. Does your partner get the chlamydia infections treated ? Do you have protected sex with your partner ? These are important questions to be addressed as it affects the likelihood of you getting the chlamydial infections.

  • Chlamydia is a common sexual transmitted diseases, caused by the bacteria chlamydia trachomatis. Men and women can both be affected. Chlamydia can be transmitted through unprotected anal, vaginal and oral sex with an infected partner.

  • A woman can also pass down the infections to their newborns. If you are treated in the past, you may get re-infected if you have unprotected sex with someone who has it.

  • Chlamydia may cause symptoms or no symptoms in an individual. Symptomatic individuals experiences discharge from vagina or penis, painful urination and painful sexual intercourse. Most people has asymptomatic chlamydia infections.

  • So in your case, your partner has chlamydia infection and you need to get a chlamydia test from healthcare provider before starting any treatment. Medication from pharmacy is not recommended since there is no actual diagnosis given. Inappropriate medications from pharmacy may not cure your conditions, in a worse case scenario, you may need to deal with the side effects of medications.

  • If you are confirmed with chlamydia infections, doctor will prescribe a course of antibiotic for you to be taken for about a week. It is common among individuals to get infected in the future. Therefore, you may need to get a follow up test in about 3 months after treatment to confirm there is no more infections. As for your partner, he also needs treatment if there is ongoing symptoms. Hope i answered your questions and get well soon !!!
