Hi there. Thank you for your questions.

Omeprazole is not for symptomatic relive for GERD symptoms unlike antacid. It is usually taken before eating (at least 1 hour before a meal). Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed or as prescribed by your doctor.

OTC (over-the-counter) omeprazole shouldn’t be taken for long-term. Usually, you should allow at least 4 months to pass before you start another 14-day treatment. So, I wouldn’t suggest you to take omeprazole without doctor’s advice.

To receive solutions to your problem, we greatly suggest that you refer this to your nearest medical doctor. You may also click on this link (DoctorOnCall) to speak with our doctors online. We assure you that our conversations are kept in confidentiality unless additional consultation needed with other medical parties. Thank you.
