Introduction of Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop

If the seal is broken before you use it for the first time, never use Simbrinza Opthalmic Suspension. Clean your hands and shake the bottle well before each use. Make sure you remove contact lenses if you wear them and wait at least 15 minutes to get them back. Don't stop using this medication without telling your doctor about it. Otherwise, the strain in your eye would not be controlled, which may impair your eyesight.

Do not take this medicine if you have serious kidney disorders or are allergic to medications called sulphonamide. Speak to the doctor before taking it if you have problems with your liver, dry eyes or cornea. Simbrinza Opthalmic Suspension is not approved for people under 18 years of age or for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.  Do not use other eye drops until your doctor advises you to do so.

Precautionary Steps of Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop

Alcohol Warning( Not Advisable )
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop. Taking Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop with alcohol may have additive effects in the central nervous system.It is not known whether alcohol consumption will interact with Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop. There is no adverse reaction recorded involving these two substances together. It is, therefore, safe to be used together.

Pregnancy Warning (Not Safe)
The safety of Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop during human pregnancy is not established. In addition to that, animal studies do not show any teratogenic effects on the fetus. Animal reproductive studies have shown fetal toxicity while there are no or inadequate data involving human pregnancy. It is advisable for pregnant women to use other alternatives for the eye problems.

Breastfeeding Warning ( Limited Data )
There is no information regarding the safety of Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop during lactation. It is not known whether Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop is excreted in human breast milk.It is not known whether Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop is excreted through the human breastmilk or not. Animal studies have shown traces of breastmilk when Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop was given orally. The decision to use Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop depends on the risk to benefit of the treatment to the infant and the mother.

Driving Warning ( Not Advisable )
Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop may cause side effects such as dizziness, blurry vision or tiredness, all of which could affect the ability to concentrate and drive.It is not advisable to drive while using Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop due to its possible side effects to the eyes such as blurred vision and eye pain which can affect the concentration and ability to drive.

Kidney Warning ( High Risk )
Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease as Brinomidine has not been studied in kidney disease.Dose adjustment may be needed in those with mild to moderate renal impairment while it is contraindicated in severe kidney disease.

Liver Warning ( Limited Data )
Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop has not been studied in liver disease.Simbrinza 10mg/ml Eye Drop has not been studied on the effect of hepatic impaired patient. It does not have any contraindication or reported adverse effects involving the liver previously, therefore, the uses should be used only when indicated and advice from a specialist.
As with all medications, you may experience some side effects. Not everyone experiences it. This is not a cause for concern. However, it is so that you are aware of it.

The most common side effects of Simbrinza Opthalmic Suspension are blurred vision and bitter taste in the mouth. Often people have more general symptoms, such as shortness of breath, dizziness, tiredness or heart palpitations. If your vision is blurred or you've had other improvements for a while, don't drive until your vision is clear.

Skin redness and skin itching , Facial flushing, Burning sensation, Pins and needles (paraesthesia), Increased IOP , Swollen face, Nasal congestion, Blurred vision and ocular dryness, Fatigue, Drowsiness and dizziness

Blurred vision, Dry eyes, Headache, Eye pain, Itchiness of the eye, Taste abnormality, Watery eye

  • For greatest result, place one drop 2-3 times a day in the affected eye (s). 
  • Apply the pressure to the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for around 1 minute, immediately after the drop has been instilled. This minimises the chance of side-effects. 
  • To prevent contaminating the eye drops, do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface or to your eye. 
  • Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before re-inserting.
  • If several eye medications are used, wait at least 5-15 minutes until the next prescription is given in the same eye to prevent dilution of the medication.
