Covid-19 Secondary Contact?
Hi there! Recently, an employee in my company has been tested positive for covid-19 on the 5th of April and he was in the office from the 30/3 to the 2/4. I’m not in a close contact with that person. But I have received a message from my superior that the security guards have made contact with the individual - which I’m assuming they made contact at the guard house before entering the premises for a health check.
Unfortunately, I have given my lanyard that consists of my ID tag to the security guards before entering the office premises for a short health screening check up. I gave them my ID tag because they wanted to verify us employees for security purposes.
So my question, due to the touch from the security guards, should I undergo a covid-19 test on this matter?

Thank you for your question. The security guards may or may not test positive for COVID-19, especially if they adhere to strict hygiene practices. You should be worried if you develop any symptoms in 14 days time. Do observe your health in the meantime and always take necessary precautionary measures. These are the guidelines from the Centre of Disease Control (CDC):
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
