  • Thank you for the question. Erectile dysfunction, or called as ED, is one of the most common sexual problem that men report to their GP. It affects as many as 30 million male in the world. Erectile dysfunction is defined as problems getting or keeping an erection that is firm enough for sexual activity to occur.

  • Though it is not rare for a male to have some problems with erections from time to time, Erectile dysfunction that is progressively happens routinely with sex is not normal, and the problem should be treated. Erectile dysfunction can happen:

  • Most often when blood flow in the penis is decrased or nerves are damaged
With stress or any emotional changes
As an early warning of a more serious disease, for example atherosclerosis (hardening or blocked arteries), heart problems, high blood pressure and high blood sugar from Diabetes mellitus

  • Finding the causes of your Erectile dysfunction will help treat the problem and help with your overall well being. As a rule, what is good for your heart health is good for your sexual health as well. During sexual activity, nerves signal release chemicals that increase blood flow into the penis.

  • Blood flows into 2 erection chambers in the penis, made of spongy muscle tissue called the corpus cavernosum. The corpus cavernosum chambers are not hollow in size. During erection as well, that spongy tissues relax and trap blood. The blood pressure in the chambers makes the penis hard, causing an erection.

  • When a male has an orgasm, a 2nd set of nerve signals reach the penis and cause the muscular tissues in the penis to contract and blood is released back into a male’s circulation and the erection comes down and it become softer.
