  • Hi, thank you for your question. Currently, there is no cure for herpes infections. There are antiviral cream or pills medication that can help to control the symptoms during an outbreak, helping you to get better faster with less pain. Herpes simplex infection is a viral infection that can stay dormant in your body and strikes again when you have low immune system, stress out or other genital infections.

  • There is no vaccination or medication available as these viruses can hide in your body without even noticed or detected by your body immune system. Antibiotics do not work on herpes virus because they have different structures and survival mechanisms as compared to bacteria. There are two types of herpes viruses, which are type 1 herpes virus and type 2 herpes virus. Type 1 herpes virus also know as oral herpes, whereas type 2 herpes virus is known as genital herpes.

  • These two viruses spread through contact with infected person. Type 1 herpes virus is spread through kissing, sharing lip balm or sharing utensils. Type 2 herpes virus is spread through sexual contact via anal, vaginal or oral sex. When you get your first infections, people normally have flu like symptoms, such as fever, bodyache and headache. For subsequent, the symptoms gets milder and shorter duration.

  • Frequency of herpes outbreaks also become less frequent as times go on. When you have another herpes outbreak, you can take aspirin or paracetamol to relieve the pain. You can apply antiviral cream to the areas with sores and blisters. Always talk to your healthcare providers if there is other problems that is bothering you. Have a good day !!!

Do you know that your immune system plays role in the effectiveness of vaccines?
