Skin purging vs breakout

im 26 years old (female) l,l have started a new skin care routine that contain salicylic acid in the cleanser and bha in the spot treatment gel. i used the cleanser everyday but rarely used the spot treatment gel (for about a month). what i have noticed, there are tiny bumps appear on my face after using the spot treatment and its getting worse by day and immediately stop using it. i thought that it maybe just purging but the tiny bumps are appearing on the area that i rarely breakout. in addition to that, i also used post acne scar product to reduce the dark spot due to acne scarring. so, is it my skin truly purge and is it okay to used acne scar product while purging?. thank you

Greetings! Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing.

For your information, there is a difference between purging and breakout. Breakout is a problem of acne that grows due to clogged pores, which in turn causes an inflammation to your skin. Meanwhile, purging is the process of cleansing the skin from oil and dirt that clogs the pores, usually because the skin is “adjusting” to a new skin care product.

The characteristic of purging acne is that it grows on the area where you normally experience acne. However, breakout acne grows not in the usual place. For example, you have never experienced acne on the forehead, but suddenly it appears. Usually, breakout acne looks red due to inflammation and the continuous use of a product you just tried will cause it to get worse. Instead, purging will subside on its own within 2-8 weeks.
