Covid-19 Vaccine _ Blood Disorder
I am male 49 years old and having blood’s hereditary elliptocytosis and Chronic G6PD. I have also removed my gall bladder (when 35 years old) and several round impacted by FDE (fixed drug eruptions’) and chronic allergies (rash and high fever to NSAID). I would like to know whether I am ok and good to take the Covid-19 vaccine?

We understand your concern regarding your health condition and receiving the vaccination. As for the registration for the vaccination program, you may do so via MySejahtera application inside your mobile phone. Regarding which phase you will be put into, we are also unsure but the system will sort out which phase you will be in and you will be notified on a later date when will you be able to take the vaccine.

Regarding how will the vaccine affect your body, usually the vaccine effect is self-limiting and the side effect will resolves within hours to days. Depending on individuals, some may show the symptoms of the vaccine side effects and some does not experience any side effects at all. After you received the injection, you will be put under observation for 30 minutes to monitor whether you are experiencing any side effects of the vaccination or not.
Here are some common side effects of the vaccine:
Local (injection site)
- Pain or discomfort
- Swelling
- Redness
Systemic:
- Fever
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Weakness or fatigue
