Covid 19 Vaccine suitability
I am a 58y old male. More than 25y ago, a GP I visited said I had developed a mild allergy to bactrim. He mentioned sulfur containing antibiotics. I am scheduled to be vaccinated with the AstraZaneca vaccine. Is it safe for me?

You are eligible to take the vaccine as your allergy is towards a specific kind of antibiotic, but since it was 25 years ago it is advisable to disclose this information to the medical officer during your time in getting vaccinated to avoid any unwanted complications
For your information, people with conditions below are not suggested to get the vaccine, however, it depends on the risk and benefits, some condition like pregnant mothers who are frontliners might need to take the vaccine, therefore please consult your doctor if you are not sure.
- Have a history of hospitalization due to severe allergies
- Have a history of allergic reactions to any vaccine before
- Cancer patients who are undergoing cancer treatment such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy
- Patients with HIV
- Mother who is pregnant or planning a pregnancy
- Breastfeeding mothers
- Individuals who have a fever due to a viral or bacterial infection
- Individuals with low white blood cell problems
You can sign up for the vaccination but the doctor have to check first if you are eligible to get vaccinated.
