I have been having this jock itch

I have been having this jock itch and I am adhering to my cream medication given by my doctor. Can I ask, should I stop having sex with my wife bcs I am afraid I will spread the infection to her. Thanks Dr.

  • Hi, thank you for the question. Since you have treated with cream medication, it is ok for you to resume sex with your wife. Normally, jock itch is treated with antifungal cream around the area. These are some tips that is useful to keep jock itch at bay in the future. Always keep the genital clean and dry is the best way to keep the fungal infections away.

  • Wear clean and correct fitting clothes to prevent moisture trapping around the genital area. Do not share personal items with other people, such as towel, clothing or personal items. It is likely for a person with athlete’s foot to get jock itch, because there are both caused by fungal infection.
