Take folic acid more than should
I did pregnancy test and started to take folic acid 5mg each day. Today is my 11 days of consuming. I accidentally took 2 pills of 5mg today due to wrongly read how much should a pregnancy woman take which is 400mcg. I thought its 400mg. Is it dangerous for me & the baby? Should I stop taking it tomorrow and take it the day after?

Hi there!
Thank you for your question. We are very happy that you take folic acid as it has been proven to be beneficial during pregnancy for the baby.
You should not consume more than 1,000 mcg (1mg) of folic acid from vitamins, fortified foods, or a combination of both daily generally unless in limited circumstances such as you’re pregnant with twins, having a previous pregnancy with neural tube defect and more.
It is advisable that you contact us or any health professional concerning your accidental excessive consumption of folic acid. Please click on this link (DoctorOnCall) to talk to us privately online and discuss further about your inquiries. Thank you.
