Does lubricant affect the quality of sperms and birth defect

Hi, i just read an article online on the effect of lubricant to pregnancy. I am trying to conceive and we did use the ky jelly as lubricant. Will it affect the pregnany?

For your information, KY jelly is a water-based and sold under category of lubricant, not spermicide. Therefore, it does not effectively kill sperm or act as a viable contraceptive method. Besides that, some research do suggest it reduces sperm motility and causes DNA damaged in sperm. This might lower the chances of getting pregnant by a little. However, there are still no definitive results or statistic that the use of KY jelly lead to birth defects in pregnancy.
