Until today it keeps on bleeding

Ive had my period since Monday but starting Friday the blood became excessive. Until today it keeps on bleeding. I dont feel any pain but the amount of blood coming out is tooo much. I read online it could be cyst or fibroid

Hey and thank you for your question. Can I ask you to give me few other details such as how long it has been happening? Was it normal for you? Do experienced any other symptoms such as period pain or menstrual cramps, weight loss or problem with getting pregnant? Was your period is always regular or irregular?

Menstruation varies from person to a person, so it is difficult to define and know which one is really 'normal' for us/ So in clinical setting, the heavy bleeding or known as menorrhagia is defined as blood loss more than 80mL every cycle that you have. However, blood loss can be very difficult to measure, unless you have to use a measurement tool like menstrual cup.

Even if you lose blood less than 80 mL, it can still reduce your quality of life, particularly during the timing of your periods is irregular and therefore it is really difficult to deal with. There are few causes that can cause menorrhagia or heavy bleeding. Firstly, polyps or growths in the uterine lining can cause bleeding between periods and sometimes can presents with menorrhagia.

Uterine fibroids or known as benign growths of the smooth muscle on the uterus, also called as leiomyomas, can sometimes cause heavy bleeding. If they grow in the uterine lining or endometrial lining they will most likely cause heavy bleeding. Cancers causing heavy bleeding are very rare, but important, causes of abnormal bleeding, especially for female under the age of 40.

While they can cause heavy bleeding, cancers more likely cause bleeding between periods and irregular bleeding. Coagulopathy, an inherited disorder avoiding the blood from clotting normally, will cause heavy bleed usually started from the first period.
