Greetings!
Thank you for your question. I understand your concern regarding your son’s symptom. Due to the symptoms of breathing difficulty, you may answer the quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 on behalf of your son to evaluate his health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, he will be classified into several categories. Government hospitals are prioritising those of high risk for the testing for COVID-19. Hence, we provide home testing services, accessible through this link: COVID-19 Screening At Home.
According to WHO, the common symptoms of COVID-19 infection are:
- Fever (more than 37.5 degrees celcius)
- Fatigue
- Cough
- Aches and pains
- Sorethroat
- Headaches
- Shortness of breath
Shortness of breath may be due to:
- Lung infection
- Asthma
- Allergic Rhinitis
- Bronchiolitis
- Pneumonia
- Tuberculosis
For now, you are encouraged to monitor your son symptoms. You are also required to abide to the movement restriction order and comply to the the precautionary steps given. These are the guidelines from the Centre of Disease Control (CDC):
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
