Astrazeneca for breastfeeding mothers with g6pd child

I am a woman in my mid 30s and breastfeeding my 1yo who is g6pd deficient. Is it safe for me to take the astrazeneca vaccine although my child is g6pd deficient?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to us.

We understand the doubt and questions you are currently having. Based on the National COVID-19 Immunization Program’s guideline, pregnant ladies and breastfeeding mothers are exempted from taking the vaccine until pregnancy and breastfeeding phase is over as there are limited data to support the safety for the mother and the baby. Other than that, you may consult and discuss with a doctor before deciding the next step.

This is just our general information regarding your question. We recommend that you see a doctor so that an examination can be done and treatment can be given to you.

If you have further questions, please contact us at (DoctorOnCall) to speak with our doctor in person. Thank you.
