Hi, my dad (59yo, patients with diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia) was tested covid positive and recovered for about a month ago. However, he is tested positive again today by using self test kit (saliva test).
I heard that covid patients will still be tested positive within 3 months after recovery, is it true?
Or he indeed gotten covid for the second time?
Doctors, please advise. Thank you.
Hello and good evening
Thank you for your question
Based on your question, I understand that you are worry about your problem. I will try to help you
For your information, covid 19 patient that was recovered from covid 19 will still show a positive result for a long period even after they are said to be recovered. Eventhough the result will show a positive result, they will not spread the virus to the others. It is because the positive result because of the virus or virus fragment (DNA) that was dead.
Therefore, I advise you to refer to a doctor to get a proper treatment. You can also have an online consultation with our doctors for more information and further treatments.
I hope this answer will help you. Thank you.
