How long is the incubation period?

I am female in my fifties, my sisters and I some of us in our sixties and some in fifties, got back from Busan, Korea on the 13th of February. Up till now none of us are having any symptoms. Do we need to be worried? Is there still any chance that we could be exposed during our trip there?

Greetings, we truly understand your concern regarding this matter. The situation is still evolving and as the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued, the number of cases and death are still on the rise in South Korea and thus CDC has advised avoiding any non-essential travel to the country at the moment.

The incubation period is the period when a person first contacted the infection to when the first symptom appears. It is thought that the COVID-19 incubation period is 14 days. It means an infected person may not show any symptom up to 14 days after he/she got infected.

Thus, you are advised to take precational step to protect yourself from being infected by this virus.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
