Is it advisable to carry out blood donation drive in office at this time looking at the spike of Coronavirus cases

Hi, my office is planning to conduct a blood donation drive on 19 March 2020. However, the recent spike of COVID-19 cases is worrisome and we are not sure whether there will be any impact if we proceed with the campaign. Please advise. Thank you.

Greetings, thank you for your question.

First and foremost, there will be risk of transmission especially during this outbreak season. Nevertheless, you can reduce the risk by keeping strict and good hand hygiene as well as implementing good preventive measures.

Advice your team members to wear mask and advice patients who are sick to wear face mask. Adhere to measures such as regular hand washing and disinfecting items used during the event.
