Is it post-covid, anxiety, brain tumour?

I am 18 years old. I am a boy. I have been having this headache, tiredness and nausea for the past 7 days. I also started developing dizziness about 3 days ago. The symptoms seem to keep interchanging with each other. Sometimes it’s just headache alone, or nausea alone, or sometimes 2 or 3 of them could happen together at the same time.

The symptoms seem to keep going on this waxing and waning pattern, getting better then worse. The waxing and waning could be minutes to hours.

I’m just very worried it’s a brain tumour or something. I have anxiety. Also I just recovered (tested negative) from covid 2 weeks ago. I had some symptoms like cough, a runny nose, loss of taste and more during the acute phase of infection, but none of the symptoms I am experiencing now (the headaches, dizziness, tiredness and nausea) were present during that acute phase, they developed about 6 days after I tested negative. Could it be a post-covid symptom? Help!!

Greetings, thank you for your question.

I understand your concerns, I will try to help you.

There are several reasons why you may have a headache and nausea:

  • Migraine problems
  • High blood pressure
  • Early stage stroke problems
  • Dehydration
  • Lack of exercise or outdoor activities
  • Stress and emotional disorders
  • Unhealthy eating habits such as slow eating
  • Lack of rest or sleep.
  • Thyroid problems.
  • General diseases such as red blood cell deficiency
  • A bacterial infection of the sinuses that can cause sinus headaches. (sinus inflammation)
  • Bacterial infections of the brain or meninges

Or it might be Post-COVID or Long-COVID. According to world and Malaysian health bodies such as the CDC and MOH, former COVID-19 patients can experience long-term symptoms after recovering from the infection as early as 4 weeks or longer.

I highly recommend you speak to your doctor regarding your situation to provide you with the safest and best route of care to manage your condition as a whole. You can contact our doctor online for further information and treatment.
