Soreness in throat and difficulty in breathing

I am a woman in my mid twenties.

I am wondering whether I should consult a general physician prior to heading to an ENT specialist.

My throat was sore since last Monday 28th Sept and I’ve had the following symptoms:

  • shortness in breath
  • difficult to swallow at times
  • giddiness
  • fatigue

I’ve just gotten my test result for Covid and it turned out negative.

Appreciate the advice on whether should I head on straight to the specialist or should I consult a general physician first. Trying to avoid multiple visits to the hospital.

Hi, thank you for contacted us.

Based on informations given, i need to ask more detail questions regarding your condition. There are two ways to refer your case either going to general physician or ENT specialist. But i suggest you to go for a general physician first because there are a lot of differential diagnosis to list on about your symptoms, not only related to ENT.

You can easily get ear, nose & throat problems, but don’t let it get to you.

But if you insist that your main concern is difficulty in swallowing and its already affected your daily life routine, you might go for ENT specialist to get a consultation.

For your information these are common conditions related to difficulty in swallowing

  • Inflammation of oesophagous
  • Foreign body
  • Goitre
  • Pharyngeal web
  • Mass from inside or out

Discuss your symptoms with an ear, nose and throat(ENT) specialist for their expert advice.
