Coronavirus Infection
I am fully vaccinated. I had physical contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case 3-4 days ago before the identified patient is tested positive. Do I need to go for a PCR test? Do I need to self-quarantine?

Good evening and thank you for your question.
We understand your worries especially regarding the close contact to a positive COVID-19 patient. For your information, COVID-19 screening is usually subjected to patients that have experienced an ongoing fever. Although the criteria may change according to the situation, it is best that you seek immediate help from the nearby clinic or hospital as soon as possible. As far as I’m concerned, once you are considered a close contact to a positive coronavirus patient, you are required to do COVID-19 screening as well. In addition, self-quarantine will start from the day of exposure.
Additonally, WHO listed common symptoms for COVID-19 infection as follows:
- Fever (more than 37.5 degrees Celcius)
- Fatigue
- Cough
- Aches and pains
- Sore throat
- Headaches
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Chest pain or pressure
- Loss of speech or movement
However, the onset of these symptoms may vary according to different individuals, ranging from few days to about 2 weeks after the virus transmission. On top of that, there were cases of asymptomatic carrier. Those that are able to transmit the virus without having any symptoms or complication of their own.
Meanwhile try to maintain physical and social distance between close friends and family members. You may also click on this link to directly request a COVID-19 screening test.
