Covid 19 yang melanda memang amat memeritkan. SOP yang berubah ubah dan tidak disertakan fakta ilmiah membuatkan ramai keliru dengan tindakan yang sewajarnya apabila berhadapan dengan masalah covid

COVID-19 issues

  1. Close contact quarantine.
    a) 10 days quarantine started from the last date of contact.
    b) When the earliest best time to do swab test on the person to determine that he/she is free from covid? 3rd day; 5th day? 10th day? And why is that?
    c) If tested found positive why require 10 days quarantine from the date of the test? Why not from the date he/she expose to the Covid-19 (from close contact); means from 1st day?
    d) If full quarantine 10 days, and the person does not get further expose to COVID-19, can we consider the person is Covid free even without any test? And why is that?

  2. Positive cases
    a) After 10 days quarantine, can we release the person without test? Why?
    b) If within the 10 days, a person shows symptom but recovered within the 10 days; can we just release the person?
    c) If on the 7th day, a person show a symptom and still have on the 10th, should we quarantine further? If yes, for how long? Until the symptom disappear? Any explanation for that?

Hi and thank you for asking us

Through the question and statement you gave on the above section, i completely understand your concern over this matter. For your information, the best time to do a 2nd swab test after suspect of close contact case is the 9th day after last exposure. This is to ensure that the person is completely negative and did not develop any symptoms during those days of quarantine, so that a release order can be given the next day.

If tested positive, you are required to quarantine from the date of the test because that is the confirmation that you are infected. It is difficult to identify the expose date. That is why it is crucial to get a swab test after suspecting you are exposed to the virus.

After full quarantine of 10 days without developing any symptoms, it can be certain that the person has passed the dangerous period of the disease and they are unlikely to cause infection to other people.

For positive cases, they should get tested before the last day of their quarantine, and if the person shows symptoms during their quarantine, they have to extend their quarantine about 10 more days from the date of their symptoms even if they recovered during the quarantine. If the symptom persists after finish quarantine, they will have to continue quarantine and get treatment.

But if you want to seek a second opinion, you may try to contact the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC). Other than that, do practice good hand hygiene and normalize wearing face mask in public.
