Hyperthyroid has been getting worst

hi doctor, i’m a 18 year old female. i’ve diagnosed for hyperthyroidism more than a year. but these 2-3 days i feel that my condition is getting worst. i’ve been to several clinics and they made a blood test. this have been already done for numeral of times. but they keep asking me to take carbimazole and propanolol everytime i went to the clinic. they always said that my blood test result is quite high. but, they don’t even do anything. may i know what is going to happen to me? if my thyroid is left untreated? i’ve been suffering enough for always out of breath and weren’t able to breath properly. plus, the weather these days are hot. it’s makes me even harder to breath. i would feel annoyed and being angry out of no reasons.

Hi and thank you for your inquiry. This is a general answer to the question asked. Please click on this link (DoctorOnCall) to talk to us privately.

Hyperthyroidism can be exacerbated by many factors such as weather change, flu/illness or even other hormonal changes. The key to control this disease is to take the medicine regularly as prescribed while tackling the exacerbating factors. Since you also mention that you had difficulty with breathing, it is advisable for you to have another examination of your thyroid gland to see whether it has grown in size or maybe there are other factors involve. Shortness of breath can also be caused by allergy, asthma, anaemia (low red blood cells) or even infection of the airway. To help narrowing down the causes for your problems right now, further questioning and examination needed to be done. You can talk to us privately through this link (DoctorOnCall) to help identifying this problem personally. Thank you.
