Blood test to check deficiency

Hi doc. Im female 27 y/o suffering from hair loss. Did some reading and suspect it could be due to thyroid problems and maybe iron or vitamin deficiency. Can regular blood test detect iron levels? What type of test should i be doing to check? Thanks

Greetings.

We understand your situation regarding alopecia or hair loss

Androgenetic hair loss is seen in both men and women but is more dramatic in men. Thyroid disease, anemia, protein deficiency, chemotherapy, and low vitamin levels may cause hair loss . Alopecia areata is a form of hair loss produced by the autoimmune destruction of hair follicles in localized areas of skin.

Regular blood test is insufficient to detect iron level. Hospitals usually need to do Iron profile to get an overall picture of Iron level in your body.
