I have been coughing, hoarseness throat, for 3 weeks

Condition:
I am 34 years old, female. I have already completed 2 doses of vaccines. After vaccination, I had normal side effects like, headaches and muscle pain. On the third day I started to cough. I did twice PCR test on the 8th day and 14th day, both are negative. I don’t have any other symptoms, no fever, flu, and no loss of taste. This is my third week, and my cough is still there. The cough is not frequent, but sometimes when I want to take a breath, feels like want to cough.

Based on my observation, below are my symptoms:

  • Cough (not frequent), mostly dry
  • Throat clearing
  • Hoarseness throat especially in the morning after wake up
  • Feeling something stuck in throat every time I want to breathe, that make me cough.

My questions:

  • Should I be worried about it?
  • Any cough medicines should I take? Can u suggest?
  • What cause this?

Since you have done PCR test twice and both are negative, it is unlikely that you have Covid-19 infection. However, your symptoms can be caused by an infection other that Coronavirus in your upper respiratory tract such as the Influenza virus. An allergy reaction could also trigger your symptoms. Besides that, smoking or side effects of certain medications can cause dry cough and hoarseness.

We are unable to advise you on a suitable medication to treat your condition, as we need a full medical history to come up with the correct diagnosis. We encourage you to consult a doctor regarding your symptoms for further management.
