Coughing and gagging which leads to vomitting

I am a man in my 20’s. I’ve been having a problem with coughing and gagging for a while now and was wondering if there is a reason foe this. The coughing is at a rate of once or twice every 2-3 hours but the gagging sometimes made me vomit. I’ve been to the doctor in my teenage year for unstoppable coughing for weeks and the doctor said I might be allergic to dust.
