Quarantine period after tested negative

My daughter who is 23 years old has arrived from London on Sunday, 29 March 2020. She took the Covid19 test from Thomson Drive Thru Hospital on 31 March 2020. We just received her result which is negative. Does she still need to be quarantine in her own room (she has been quarantined in her own room since arrival).

Hi and thank your for your question.

I understand that your daughter has returned from London and did COVID-19 screening test from Thomson Drive Thrue Hospital. However, it is still advisable for her to do self quarantine.

In the meantime, it is very crucial for you to follow this step from Centre of Disease Control (CDC) to prevent from contracting or spreading the virus:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
