Salmonella, diarrhoea, covid-19

Patient 29 years old, Ok last night my husband and I had dinner at sushi king around 7- 8-ish pm and at 3-4am in the morning he suddenly told me he had like cramp and BO non stop and the cramp goes on and off until morning. Went to clinic at 8am and the doctor suspect it could be diarrhoea and the doctor concern if it continues until wednesday it could be Covid-19. But my biggest concern that maybe he been infected w salmonella because we do had raw salmon slice yesterday.

Based on the information above, we understand that your husband has been experiencing stomachache, cramps and diarrhoea. Both of you also had just eaten sushi and raw salmon. We will try to help you.

For your information, it is true that raw salmon can cause 2 most common food poisoning which are Salmonella and Vibrio Vulnificus. Though salmonella are more common.

Symptoms experienced by your husband do fit into description of Salmonella. Especially the timing of symptoms onset. Salmonella is treatable by antidiarrheal and antibiotics.
