Shingles or Genital Herpes?
Hi, I am 35 years old, female. 5 days ago I had muscle ache on my lower body and slight burning sensation when urinating. I thought I was having UTI so I tried taking Ural sachets. But after 2 days, the pain on my left pubic region and leg worsen, tiny painful blisters seen on the left side of groin area near to my anus and vagina. Currently the blisters spread in a random strands of rashes from my groin towards my thigh and buttock. I did not engaged in any forms of sexual intercourse for the pass 8 years. This is the first time I am suffering from such condition. So does this rule out that I am having genital herpes ? I had chickenpox when I was around 7 years old. Is this a recurrent outbreak for herpes zoster (shingles)? What treatment should I seek for?

Good day. Thank you for your query.
This is a general answer/solution for the problem you’ve stated. For detailed explanation, please sign up at (DoctorOnCall) to talk to our doctors on line.
Genital herpes is a disease that can be transmitted via skin to skin contact such as in sexual intercourse and kissing. Since you’ve mentioned that you did not engage in any form of sexual intercourse, it is unlikely that you’re infected by herpes.
However, as for reactivation of Varicella Zoster, also known as shingles, it is possible to occur years after initial infection. The common sites of reactivated infections are along dermatomes as it stays dormant in the nerves.
To answer your question, you need to get the blisters examined by a doctor and if indicated, run some tests to confirm the aetiology of the blisters.
