Back pain and leg cramp

I am a pregnant women . My pregnancy now is 7 months. I have a backpain since yesterday night and leg cramp. What shld i do?

Greetings! Thank you for your questions.

First and foremost, we truly understand your concerns regarding your symptoms and other health problems you might be facing. Low back pain during pregnancy and leg cramp are the common problems we hear about among pregnant mothers. These problems can be due to hormone changes, increase of body weight or lifting heavy objects.

Several methods that are easy to practice in order to reduce the pain are:

  • The first way is to avoid standing or sitting for too long. Be actively moving so that the lumbar joint is not stiff.
  • Change position from lying to standing slowly. This is to prevent excessive pressure on the lumbar joint and cause back pain.
  • Pregnant women should also make sure they wear appropriate shoes. This is because uneven shoes or shoes that are too high will not only cause heel and sole pain but will also cause excessive pressure on the lumbar joints and result in severe back pain.
  • Pregnant women should not do any heavy work. This is because carrying heavy items is not good for the health of the fetus and causes back pain

However, please seek for doctor’s help if;

  • The back pain was so severe
  • Low back pain accompanied by bleeding through the vagina
  • Low back pain with high blood pressure and vaginal discharge
