COVID 19 risk coming back from overseas

Doc, i developed a slight sore throat with no cough nor fever in Jakarta on the 4th and i came back to malaysia on the 6th of March. Since then I’ve been in home quarantine. Today, the 15th, my daughter developed a 39 degrees fever. I did the assessment in the MOH website and I’m in low risk. Should we go get tested in sg buloh hospital? Tq.

Thank you for your question.

I understand your worry regarding your risk of being infected with COVID19. Since your result shows low risk, the advice is for you to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. As for now, screening test will be given to high risk patients especially with recent travel history and difficulty breathing. If you insist on doing the screening, it can be done in any government hospital.

The decision of whether a person needs to be checked is depending on the doctor’s evaluation of the patient’s history and risks. If a person develops symptoms such as fever and respiratory symptoms, he/she will be further evaluated for diagnostic testing.

You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

After 5.00 pm till 12.00 am, please direct your enquiries to our DoctorOnCall website at this link https://www.doctoroncall.com.my/tanya/.
