Dr, am I pregnant if my period had been late for 3days? When is the actual days to check UPT? And if I’m planning for abortion what is the safe method for it?

Hi I’m 29y, working mom but I’m still breastfeeding my baby. He’s 1y old. I’m taking Noridays pills and my husband using condom as our precaution. But now, my period is late 3days, I’m worried if I’m pregnant. So when is the right time for me to do UPT? And if I’m planning to take abortion which method is it safe? FYI, this is my second emergency caesar where the last time is 17/10/2019 caused of baby breech presentation and leaking.

Hello and good evening. Thank you for your questions.

Based on your situation that you have mentioned, there is a possibility that your late period is a minor side effect caused by those Noriday Pills that you have been taking. Noriday pills are mini-pills which contains the hormon Norethisterone, which is a synthetic Progestin hormon. They are relatively safe during breastfeeding.

There is a slight chance that you might be pregnant, only if you are solely dependent on those pills. But with the use of condom, it is not keen for you to do a UPT test because the chances of getting pregnant is very slim and might be not at all. If you intend to do the UPT test either way, we suggest you to perform it during 1 week after you last missed period, or 2 weeks after you conceive with your husband.

Your period late? Get a confirmation and don’t be in the dark anymore.

However, based on your obstetric history, we suggest you to meet your nearest doctor if you are experiencing any pelvic discomfort, or if your menstrual is delayed terribly.
