Same flight with an allegedly confirmed Covid-19 case, so I need to do the test?

I heard that I was on the same flight with an allegedly confirmed case, I have no symptoms, currently under self-quarantine, do I need to do the test?

Greetings!

Thank you for your question. According to protocol, if a person is confirmed with COVID-19 and has a recent history of boarding a flight, it will be informed by MOH to the public. This may be part of contact tracing, if necessary. It is therefore not necessary for you to do a COVID-19 test. However, you are encouraged to monitor your health and development of any symptoms. According to WHO, the common symptoms of COVID-19 infection are:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sorethroat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

After 5.00 pm till 12.00 am, please direct your enquiries to our DoctorOnCall website at this link https://www.doctoroncall.com.my/tanya/.
