The vision will suddenly be dark

I’m 19 years old. It’s always dark in front of my eyes, whether I’m lying in bed to get up, or I’m sitting on a chair to stand up, or I’m squatting to stand up, there will be such a situation. Recently, I will feel a little dizzy when squatting.

Hi and thank you for contacting us.

We understand your concern regarding the sudden darkness in vision typically when trying to get out of your bed or standing up prior to sitting, followed by dizziness when squatting. We will try to help you.

For your information, impaired vision and dizziness that occur after sudden changes in posture can be due to a phenomenon called orthostatic hypotension. It was described that a sudden postural or elevation difference of the body may induce an abrupt plunge in blood pressure, leading to a temporarily decreased oxygen perfusion in the brain, causing symptoms such as dizziness, blurry vision, nausea, fainting, etc.

However, ongoing or severe symptoms that occur can also be a sign of a more serious condition such as

  • neurological disorder
  • cardiovascular abnormalities
  • endocrine related problems

With that being said, you are also encouraged to talk to our doctor online, in order for us to be able to help you further.

We hope you will be satisfied with our answer.
