One of the eyes half red

21F, right half of left eye become red. Used artificial tears and removed an eyelash from that area. I’m also always on my laptop 24/7 due to online classes. May I know what are the potential causes? Thanks!

Greetings!

Thank you for your question. I understand your worries regarding your condition.

For your information, straining of the eye due to prolonged staring at screens can cause red eyes. You might be able to prevent the occurence of eye strain by resting your eyes once in awhile. Red eyes can be caused by certain problems such as:

  • Dry eyes
  • Subconjunctival bleeding
  • Conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctival layer)
  • Episcleritis (inflammation of the lining of the episclera)
  • Acute glaucoma
  • Corneal ulcer
  • Uveitis
