Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)

My bro is diagnosed with AML & currently just undergo 2nd round of chemo. The red blood cell & platelet count is not increasing ideally and the white blood cell count is still at a very low side. Knowing it’s the side effect of chemo, but if the blood cells count remain low weeks after chemo, we are getting worried. Can he consumes goat milk (in powder form) on daily basis to boost up the protein intake? Is goat milk ideal for cancer patients? Thank you

Hi there! Thank you for the question. It is apparent that you are worried about your brother condition. First of all, I am sorry to hear about your brother’s condition.

Boost your immune system with a balanced diet and good nutrition.

As to answer your question, several peptides, fats, and oligosaccharides present in goat’s milk can be potentially useful in cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, neurological degeneration, or in promoting intestinal health. They have also shown chemo-preventive properties in cancer.

But, goats milk is not recommended for anyone who has been diagnosed with lactose intolerance. Therefore, you should discuss this with your brother’s doctor before proceed to give him goat milk.
