I understand your concern regarding COVID-19 infection. For your information, as a casual contact, you are considered to be at low risk of contracting COVID-19. You are a casual contact if you have been within only two meters of someone with COVID-19 for less than 15 minutes.

Recent studies revealed that between 5% – 80% of the COVID-19 cases may be asymptomatic, which means they exhibit no signs and symptoms of the same. This group of people, therefore, tends to spread COVID-19 without really knowing it. That’s why it is important to monitor any symptoms within 10 days or during quarantine. Although at this moment, it is not compulsory for a casual contact to do swab test in Malaysia, you must get tested as soon as possible if you develop any symptoms. Symptoms to look out for include:

• fever (37.5°C or higher) or history of fever (night sweats, chills)
• cough
• shortness of breath (difficulty breathing).
• runny nose
• loss of taste
• loss of smell
• sore throat
