Covid-19 - SOP for travellers returning to Malaysia from overseas
Hi, i’ve just returned from travelling in Australia. Based on the online assessment, I have minimal risk of infection (no symptoms, have not travelled to high risk areas), but i would like to check if it is necessary, as a precaution, to self-quarantine myself for 14 days? What is the protocol for situations like this? Thanks.

Hi and thank your for your question.
I understand that you have returned from your travel to Australia and have shown no symptoms of COVID-19 infection. According to our MOH protocol, self-quarantine is indicated for the following scenarios:
- Close contact with positive cases, with or without symptoms.
- Symptomatic with travel history to high risk countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Italy and Iran.
- Symptomatic with history of close contact with people confirmed with COVID-19 infection.
Self-quarantine should also be an order from a doctor. This is because those that undergoes quarantine will be tested twice for the presence of COVID-19 virus in the blood stream.
You may consult a MOH doctor by clicking Ask Doctor at the Ministry of Health website (COVID-19 Portal) to ask any health issues related to COVID-19 starting from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.
