COVID contact tracing

A relative visited my mother in law on Sunday they were not there for long and kept their masks on the whole time .
My family and I then went to visit my MIL Sunday afternoon
Today we were told the relative tested positive for COVID.
So what I would like to know is would my mother in law and my family be at risk

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us.

We understand your concern especially during this hard times. The individuals is considered positive if they are exposed to the positive individuals. According to the Ministry of Health, close contact refers to either:

  • Health care-associated exposure, including providing direct care for COVID-19 patients, working with health care workers infected with COVID-19, visiting patients or staying in the same close environment of a COVID-19 patient.
  • Working together in close proximity or sharing the same classroom environment with a with COVID-19 patient
  • Traveling together with COVID-19 patient in any kind of conveyance
  • Living in the same household as a COVID-19 patient

On top of that, please advise your family and your mother in law to monitor their symptoms and please seek immediate attention if they develop these symptoms:

  • Fever (more than 37.5 degrees Celcius)
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath

However, the onset of these symptoms may vary according to different individuals, ranging from few days to about 2 weeks after the virus transmission. On top of that, there were cases of asymptomatic carrier. Those that are able to transmit the virus without having any symptoms or complication of their own.

I would also encourage you to answer this quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate their health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, you will be classified into several categories. Further instructions will be given at the end of the quiz. Please act accordingly.
