Dry / Sore throat
Hi doctor, I’m a 24 years old female. I’ve been to one of the mall that have a confirmed Covid case on that particular day (3days before today), however, I only had dinner there and went to buy some necessities, I didn’t went to that particular shop and didn’t have any close contact with any strangers. Today, I found that my throat is dry and seems like it’s about to have sore throat, my body temperature is around 37, can you advice is this normal illness or there is possibility that it might be covid? Thank you

Hello and good evening. Thank you for your questions.
We truly understand your concerns regarding your recent visit at an area with a positive COVID-19 case and has been experiencing fever and sore throat ever since. For your information, these are the symptoms that are related with a COVID-19 infection that is known by the public’s knowledge:
- Fever
- Breathing difficulties
- Headaches
- Nausea and vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Sore throat
- Cough or excessive sneezing.
Boost your immune system with a balanced diet and good nutrition.
Therefore based on your situation that you have given, there is a possibility that you might have contracted the COVID-19 virus from the mentioned area. However, having a sore throat and fever are very subjective as it can be caused by other viruses or a bacterial infection particularly aiming your throat. Which the case, a COVID-19 infection should not be ruled out either way.
We suggest you to continue monitor your symptoms for a period of 14 days after the date of exposure, especially if there is any difficulty of breathing. For your uttermost safety, we would like to advice you to stay at home in the time being, follow the provided SOP given by the ministry of health, wear a facemask, and practice good hygiene with frequent sanitization.
In the other hand, we also suggest you to go to the nearest hospital or COVID-19 testing and quarantine facilities as you are expected to be categorized under a PUI (Patient Under Investigation) group by our health government to undergo a preliminary test for COVID-19. While doing so, please obey the SOP that has been implemented and if possible, practice less contact with less individuals to escort you to the nearest facility.
