Earwax Hardened Blockage

Hi, I have a hardened and blocked earwax. And currently I’m using an eardrops to soften the earwax and will be removing the earwax next week. Just wanted to check if it is safe if I go swimming before I remove the earwax? Or it is better not to swim first until I remove the earwax?

Hello and good afternoon.

Thank you for your question.

Based on your question, I understand that you are worried about your situation. I will try to help you.

Earwax is a normal substance that helps protect the inside of your ear canal. I would recommend you stay at home until the earwax issue is settled. If you are going to go swimming at this point of time, it might cause some other issues with your ears.

Here are some tips to prevent repeated episodes.

1.Using a topical agent once a week may help.
2.You may also need to plan for a regular ear cleaning every 6 months or so.However, please do not use cotton swabs. They often push the earwax farther back down your ear canal.
4.Wear ear plugs whenever you are going for swimming.
5.Wipe your ears after bathing or swimming
6.Always go to your doctor if you have notice any symptoms like ringing sound, pain or any discharges.

Therefore I highly recommend you speak to your doctor regarding your situation to provide you with the safest and best route of care to manage your condition as a whole, taking into account the various factors mentioned above and more. You can contact our doctor online for further information and treatment.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you.
