Nose - booger appears greenish

I cleaned booger everyday. However, last week, I found out that booger from my left nose is a little bit greenish and the condition continues. Is this normal? Usually it only appears greenish when there is phlegm. But I have no cough, no runny nose, no cold.

Hello and good afternoon.

Thank you for your question.

Based on your question, I understand that you are worried about your situation. I will try to help you.

For your information, mucus is usually clear. It tends to turn white as it dries, but depending on what comes into contact with it, boogers can take on a variety of colors. Yellow or green can sometimes suggest an infection, but not always. White blood cells contain a chemical that imparts a yellow or green hue to mucus, rather than bacteria. You may create more white blood cells if your body is fighting an infection. However, you always have some white blood cells, so even if you’re healthy, your mucus may be yellow or green. (It is possible to be ill and still have clean mucus.) If you have an infection, you may also have symptoms such as congestion, sinus pressure, or a headache.

Therefore I highly recommend you speak to your doctor regarding your situation to provide you with the safest and best route of care to manage your condition as a whole. You can contact our doctor online for further information and treatment.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you.
