Entering a building that was supposed to be closed down due to Covid-19

My colleague and I recently visited a building that was supposed to be closed down as a proactive measures following the spread of Covid-19. We did not know that we were not supposed to enter the building. Right after we settled down in the meeting room, the receptionist and guards came to inform us and advise us to leave immediately. Although the guard told us that there might be suspected case, but there was no reported news about any cases of Covid-19 in that building at this moment. We have self-quarantined for the past four days and there were no symptoms such as coughing or fever showing up. I wonder if it is safe for us to go back to work on Monday?

Hello there,good day!

I understand your concern due to the recent coronavirus outbreak worldwide. You are advised to closely monitor for any signs of the symptoms within 14 days while taking strict preventive measure per CDC or MOH guidelines. Avoid going to crowded places until you are definitely sure there are no symptoms after 14 days.

Symptoms of infected persons are such as:

  • Fever
  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Body ache
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Runny nose

You should report and go to your nearest healthcare provider as soon as possible if the symptoms come up. Delaying in presenting yourself may bring more harm.

Prevention from Coronavirus Infection

How to prevent yourself from being infected by this virus?

These are the guidelines from Centre of Disease Control (CDC):

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

Given that you have just returned from the suspected building, you are encouraged to answer the quiz on Risk Assessment for COVID-19 to evaluate your health status in regards to this disease. After completing this quiz, you will be classified into several categories.
